Welcome to Light Reading. These columns, poems, and prayers are my attempts to reflect on what I see and think about God and God's world. It's a huge world out there, much greater in geography and spirit than any of us can see on our own. These few pages are my contributions from my small part of God's magnificent, dangerous, and gracious spaces of heaven on earth. Read, skim, graze, peruse, enjoy. My hope is you'll find signposts to hope residing herein.
Thanks to the donations of many and the fine work crew, dedication of the first of four new classrooms is scheduled for October. Here's what Julie Atkinson, Executive Director of COHH, has written:

Changing The World View of Our Children To Improve the Livelihood and Future of Our Children
God brought many gifts into our lives during our seven years of life and ministry in Connecticut. One of the best was meeting Pastor Emmanuel St. Juste. Emmanuel's calling to make a difference in his hometown of Hinche, Haiti, has become the calling of many others who partner with COHH from around the world. It just might be where God would want you to become a supporter, too. COHH needs your prayers. It could use your financial support, too. Explore and see if this is a place God has in mind for you!
Center of Hope (Haiti) is the fulfillment of the vision of Emmanuel St. Juste. Emmanuel was born in Hinche, Haiti, where his parents raised five boys and five girls amid abject poverty. Emmanuel was trained in the ministry in Haiti and came to Stamford, Connecticut, in 1974, where he formed the French Speaking Baptist Church of Stamford. Construction of the new COHH elementary school in Hinche, Haiti began in February. This is a pictorial update of the progress we are making on the ground. All labor is locally supplied and supervised by the managment team of the Building Goodness Foundation. This project is not only an investment in the community, it provides jobs for the skilled and unskilled labor, materials are purchased from local suppliers and the school will assure the education of children in Haiti that would otherwise not attend school. We thank all of our donors for their generous support of this project. Link: http://centerofhope-haiti.org/blog/your-donations-work
